OBJECTIVES

The main objective of the workshop is to build a solid group of code experts inside the ALADIN community. In this context solid group means a large enough group with a good overview of the general algorithms and libraries of the model. Code experts are those, who are able to:

- take a LEADING role in the Toulouse phasing exercises
- take over, or supervise, local code maintenance
- gain some specialized, top-level expertise (eg. SL, TL/AD, NHS, etc...). It is noted here that this aspect will however require longer stays at some center in addition to the regular workshops.

Automatically, the expertise gained from the workshop will be beneficial for the local Aladin installations. It is also important to mention that additionally, the specialization inside the code can be parallel to a genuine scientific work on the related topic. It is stressed that the code maintenance will remain a global concern, and will demand a global effort of all the Aladin project. in particular, attendees to the so-called maintenance workshops should not be considered as the only phasers for future Aladin cycles, nor should they be considered as the sole local Aladin installers. The mid-term goal is rather to train persons up to a level where they can efficiently supervise some of the maintenance, besides taking an active part in the effort.

It is proposed to organise such workshops in a biennial basis.
